The seventh recipient for academic year 2026-2027 is Tito Portillo.
Tito Portillo, is a junior vocal music education major at Sam Houston State University. He is currently the president of the Sam Choral Educators at SHSU. He graduated from Tomball Memorial High School in 2024. His instrument is voice (baritone), and his hometown is Tomball Texas. He states: “With my experience in choir and the support my mentors have given me, I hope to become a Music Educator to equip students with tools that will not only make them strong musicians, but most importantly, good people. I strongly believe that music is the universal language of the world. Music has the power to communicate and connect people beyond barriers, provide comfort, and change lives in the times we need it the most. Therefore, with your support, I will be able to have more opportunities to change the world through music, one person at a time.”
