The sixth Recipient for academic years 2024-2026 is Kynnady Sparks.
Music Education at SHSU for 2024-26.
Kynnady Sparks is a senior Music Education major at Sam Houston State University. She is a flute player who studied under Dr. Lana Kuscer and Mrs. Amy Wiggs. At Sam Houston State, Kynnady has performed with the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Steel Band, Flute Choir, Sam Houston Percussion Group, SH University Percussion Ensemble, and Bearkat Marching Band, where she served as Drum Major for three years. She is also a member of Tau Beta Sigma a co-Ed sorority dedicated to serving local bands and the community. She has served as the Women in Music Speaker Chair, Focus on Five Liaison, Music Chair, Co-Educator, and Vice President of the Alpha Omicron chapter Currently, she is student teaching for Spring 2026 at The Woodlands College Park High School with Jeffrey Gorring and Donald R. Collins Intermediate with Brooke Klaus. After graduating, Kynnady is excited to share her love of music as a band director or music teacher where she will show her students the beauty of music by fostering growth and appreciation through education.
